"I'll stay Cap'n" replied the one called "Bootstrap Beli." She had known Jack for what seemed like a lifetime. They had met when she was a young woman. She had been travelling alone to Cuba, sent by her Spanish merchant father as the "prize" in a business deal between he and a Cuban Tobacco plantation owner. She had been forcibly placed on one of his merchant ships, with the rest of the merchandise. She had prayed to Jesus and all the Saints for rescue. Given her history in Cadiz, Spain - one of the reasons her father saw fit to send her to Cuba -the heavens sent her pirates as her rescuers. Some young women might have been frightened, but not Maria. Having grown up hearing stories of the travels of Cristobal Colon, she could not help but look out at the ocean and wonder what was out there, beyond the sea. But such was not the lot for a woman like Senorita Maria Esperanza de la Vega. As the youngest daughter of a wealthy Spanish merchant, her work was to learn to be a proper lady. To sing, to play a musical instrument, to recite poetry. But Maria always wanted more. Maria wanted adventure.

Anne Bonny - 2003-12-05 18:23:24
After escaping the hangmans noose in Jamaica, Anne spent her time with the pirate elite. One of her best friends was Pierre, the most celebrated homosexual in the pirate lair of New Providence in the Bahamas. He ran a popular ladies' establishment--- and with whom Anne had a teasing rivalry for the favors of the male population. After receiving word that Capt. Jack Sparrow was once again in control of the Black Pearl, she captured a sloop bound for Tortuga. There she joined a party of pirates (mostly women) and headed for Cayo Hueso in hopes of meeting up with the Black Pearl.
